The story of how DOGTECH was shaped by real-life situations and technical expertise in the Swedish forests.
A unique design born from reality
The story of DOGTECH begins in the forest, far from the drawing board. Founder Göran Hallman worked for many years as a professional hunter with a focus on the role of dog handler and search hunter. It was here, in the face of acute situations, that the need for better protection became painfully clear.
After several of Göran's own dogs were seriously injured by wild boars – and when the market could not offer a protective vest that met the standards – he chose to design his own. Under the original name Hundskydd, a unique design was born that prioritized the dog's safety without sacrificing its mobility.
To this day, Göran leads the company and drives development forward through the company DWIS i Nyköping AB . The passion for protecting our four-legged hunting companions is exactly the same today as the day Göran designed the very first vest.
Scientifically proven effect
DOGTECH actively participates in the EU-funded LIFE WILD WOLF project. In collaboration with institutions such as SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) and FACE , the effect of our protective vests in wolf-dense areas is documented.
During the first year of the study, 8 wolf attacks on hunting dogs were documented. All six dogs wearing vests survived with only minor injuries. During the same period, two dogs participating in the study without vests were killed [1].
A total of 26 wild boar attacks were recorded during the season. 15 dogs wearing vests escaped with minor injuries. Dogs without vests, however, suffered serious injuries that required emergency veterinary care [1].
